A STRANGER DRAWING NEAR Pt.2

In this post we seek to explore the deeper significance to the story of the deliverance that Yahshua wrought for the two men possessed of devils.

We learned in our previous post that the word Gergesenes means stranger drawing near.

Who in the story recorded in Matt.8 & Mk.5 is the stranger drawing near. I submit for your consideration that it is none other than the living Messiah Yahshua HaMashiack. How can this be? In Gen.15:13 we find that Abraham's seed is referred to as a stranger. And who is the seed? Gal.3:16  tells us that the seed is Yahshua.  He was despised and rejected of man, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid our faces from Him. (Isa.53) He came unto His own and his own received Him not. (Jn.1:11) I submit for your consideration that as Yahshua came to the Gergesences; He, in a more complete sense came to our world as The Stranger drawing near each and everyone of us. (Jn. 17:23; Rom.10:8)

The two men possessed of devils are a symbol of us in the carnal nature.

Lets take a closer look at their condition:

1.They were possessed of devils.---(we by nature are the children of wrath [Eph.2:2,3]) the children of Satan (See Jn. 8:44)
2. They were seen coming out of the tombs; & they lived among the tombs (Matt.8:28;Mar.5:3)--(without Yahshua we are dead and  live among the dead (Isa.9:2)
3. They were exceeding fierce so that no man might pass by that way. (Matt.8:28)---(the natural unregenerate heart is fierce (2Tim.3:3)
4. They were incapable of  restraint (Mar.5:3)---(2Tim.3:3) the word incontinent means without self control.
5. They were incapable of being tamed (Mar. 5:4)--(2Tim.3:3) the word trucebreakers means without a covenant.

It is my position that we look more closely at our true condition without YHWH that we may the more appreciate what He has and is doing with and for us. This I believe will help us to submit more to His keeping; His mild and gentle rule.

Shalom In Yahshua
